The Teutopolis Grade School Spelling Bee winners were: 1st place Madison Magee and 2nd place Colton Starwalt.
On Tuesday, November 8, 2011 the Teutopolis Educational Foundation (TEF) and Joe's Pizza hosted a Spaghetti Supper in conjunction with the grade school's book fair. TEF and Joe's served 1,111 meals to help raise funds for the foundation. TEF awarded book grants to the top 3 classrooms represented at the spaghetti supper. Mrs. Micenheimer's 4th grade class was awarded $150 in books, Mrs. Drees' 1st grade class was awarded $100 in books, and Mrs. Smith's Kindergarten class was awarded $50 in books.
For the 24th year, the National Geographic Society is holding the National Geographic Bee for students in the fourth through eighth grades in thousands of schools across the United States and in the five U.S. territories, as well as in Department of Defense Dependents Schools around the world. The 2012 Bee is sponsored by Google.

In an effort to spread kindness during this holiday season TGS 3rd grade students went Christmas caroling on Thursday, December 8. The students walked along both sides of Main Street and stopped in many of the local businesses to sing a Christmas song.
Taylor Fatheree an Effingham High School Junior won the inaugural Frosty 5K run starting and finishing at Uphill Grind on a very cold Saturday morning January 14. Taylor's time was 18:35 closely followed by Mark Merkel of Effingham with a time of 18:46.
On Saturday, January 14 the Lady Wooden Shoes Varsity basketball team defeated Belleville West in the Highland Tournament with a score of 44-32.
