The 2012 Dieterich High School Prom took place at St. Isidore's Parish Hall in Dieterich on Saturday, May 5. Guests enjoyed a catered dinner by Joes Pizza and Pasta and DJ services by Anatime DJ, Theron Poe. The evening's theme was "My heart will go on."
Members of the DHS Prom Court included Kaylee Westendorf and Sam Hardiek as crown bearers. Kaylee, the daughter of Audra and Jeff Westendorf, and Sam, son of Jamie and Phillip Hardiek, are 1st grade Dieterich students in Mrs. Field's class. Retiring 2011 DHS Prom royalty, Kylie Zumbahlen and Tim Westendorf, crowned the 2012 Prom King, Colby Gerth, and Prom Queen, Melissa Davis.

Teutopolis High School graduates, Drew Deters and Derek Deters, recently experienced what it's like to see their film work on the big screen - literally. The two novice filmmakers traveled to New York City on April 21 to view the feature length documentary film, One Day on Earth, at the United Nations General Assembly.
These former multimedia students at Effingham High School received word in March that their footage, produced as a part of a class assignment last year, had made it into the final cut of the film which showcases life on Earth during a single day - October 10, 2010.
A SUBWAY(r) restaurant will soon be opening in Dieterich, IL. The new restaurant will be located at the intersection of Route 33 and Main Street and will feature Subway Tuscany decor.
The SUBWAY chain is famous for its made-to-order footlong and 6-inch submarine sandwiches. Sandwiches are served on Italian, wheat and a variety of seasoned breads that are baked fresh daily in each restaurant. Hot and cold subs are available with an assortment of meats, cheeses, vegetables, and condiments, all added per customer request.
The 5th grade class at Teutopolis Grade School recently went on a field trip to St. Louis. While there they took in a Cardinal baseball game along with a Weather presentation. Before the game the KSDK Channel 5 weather team out of St. Louis was on site to teach the students about the how's and why's of weather. After the interactive presentation Fredbird helped to launch an actual weather balloon.
