1. The Board accepted the resignation of Steve Stumborg as a Unit 50 bus driver.

2. The Board hired Cathy Bloemer as a summer school teacher at Teutopolis Junior High School for this summer.

3. The Board approved an EIASE Resolution of Intergovernmental Agreement for the early childhood program and services for the 2010-11 school year.

The T-Town Wranglers 4-H club recently had a fishing tournament at their June meeting. The meeting was held at Dave and Kori Hartke's house with a cookout following. The tournament winners were Cauy Hewing with the smallest fish and Andy Hille with the biggest fish. All the kids were invited to fish several local ponds in a time frame and come back with the biggest or smallest fish.  Fun was had by all.  

The T-Town Wranglers 4-H club is a club consisting of about 54 members and 3 set of leaders. Leaders are Dan and Kay Goldstein, Ken and Shannon Nosbisch and Bill and Sarah Hewing.

God blessed us on Sunday, July 11, with beautiful weather, generous people and dedicated parishioners. Thank you to all the people who showed up for their jobs. From the young high school students who washed dishes to the 70 year old adults who've worked for years. Thank you! You're the reason St. Francis parish can serve 2024 meals and serve record crowds in the stands.

Cadence - Life with a New Rhythm! That was the theme of an Awesome Catholic Heart Workcamp I recently had the opportunity to go on to Memphis, Tennessee with 92 people from Teutopolis and the surrounding area. Fr. Vernon from St. Francis was very gracious to take this trip with the youth. There were many other Catholic youth groups there from different states.

Throughout the entire summer CHWC (Catholic Heart Workcamp) has over 11,000 participants touching the lives of so many people in need. The pounding of hammers, the swish of a paint brush, the giggle of a child, the clanging of canned goods, a voice saying thank-you, the silence of a tear, all create life with a new rhythm for those Catholic youth that choose to give a week of their summer to serve those less fortunate. It really makes the participant thankful for what they have. God is doing amazing things through CHWC. He is changing the hearts of our Catholic youth and the hearts of the many people served. The campers sleep on the floor at a Catholic high school, they get up early, work hard all day in the heat with other youth from across the country, go to Mass, eat together, and then enjoy an evening program which includes praise and worship music, witness talks, confessions, prayer share time, and games.

This year I attended the American Legion's Boys' State program held at Eastern Illinois University. I attended last year as a participant. This year I was on the complete opposite side of the spectrum as an assistant counselor. Everything from last year's session was different.

Boys' State is a weeklong camp for boys entering their senior year of high school. Throughout the week, participants (called citizens) learn about the United States and its form of government, but in a way that makes it more interesting than a typical classroom setting. There are sports teams at the camp and tournaments for each. It is set up where the camp is run by the citizens. Premier Boys' State is a mythical 51st State of the U.S. Each floor of a dorm building is a city; every three floors is a county. All of the counties combined make up the state. Citizens run for city, county, and statewide positions such as comptroller, senator, and even governor. Citizens who attend Premier Boys' State learn hands-on that their strongest power as a citizen of the United States is voting.
