According to the Illinois State Police District 12 on October 28, approximately 9:39 p.m. at North 500th Street .27 miles North of E 200th Avenue (south of Newton Lake in Jasper County).

Unit #1, a purple 2004 Dodge Durango SUV, a 17 Year Old Juvenile from Dieterich was traveling south on north 500th Street approximately .27 miles north of East 200th Avenue in Jasper County when the vehicle drove onto the west shoulder of the roadway and then partially into the ditch on the west side of the roadway. The juvenile driver of Unit #1 then attempted to regain control of the vehicle but overcorrected while turning which put Unit #1 into a sideways skid.

Unit #1 reentered the roadway while skidding, passenger side first, eastward across the roadway. Unit #1 struck the ditch on the east side of the roadway and then collided with a tree, which uprooted, before bringing Unit #1 to a stop. Unit #1 overturned during the collision and came to rest on its passenger side, sitting atop the trunk of the uprooted tree.

Along with the driver, were passengers Jordan W. Kollman, 19, of Newton, a 16 Year Old Juvenile and a 15 Year Old Juvenile, both from Dieterich.

The 16 year old juvenile was transported by helicopter to Carle Hospital in Champaign. Kollman and the two additional juveniles were transported to HSHS St. Anthony Hospital in Effingham by ambulance.

The juvenile driver of Unit #1 was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid a Crash/Too Fast for Conditions and Failure to Wear Seatbelt. The 16 year old juvenile and 15 year old juvenile were cited for Failure to Wear Seatbelt.

All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
