New CVS Pharmacy anticipated to open by September

MACOMB — Construction of the city’s new CVS Pharmacy is anticipated to be completed within the next two months.
The new $6 million store at the southwest corner of South Dudley and East Jackson streets in Macomb should be ready to open its doors by September, said city community development coordinator Ray Heitner.
“The construction timeline is going pretty well, so our expectation is that it will be open by September,” Heitner said. “They’re moving along pretty quickly right now.”
Heitner said the construction workers from contractor Tri-C Construction are currently building and installing internal infrastructure inside the new 12,000-square-foot building.
“They’re doing some internal mechanical work inside the building and finishing up the curb and gutter work outside,” he said. “It’s moving along pretty well.”
The new pharmacy will replace the existing one at the plaza located on the east end of town off East Jackson Street. When the new store opens, all of the current employees will be relocated to the new store.
When the transition occurs, customers will have a drive-through lane for picking up prescriptions, a feature that they have not had at the current location. They will also have a new 63-space parking lot accessible from Washington, Jackson or Dudley streets.
