The rent assistance program known as Housing Choice Voucher (HCV aka Section 8) will reopen after nearly three years.
Open registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18.  Angela Hathaway, CEO, is expecting a large turnout for the event,
“These events tend to happen every five years and will look like folks are lining up to buy concert tickets like we did in the 1980’s.  I expect a line to start forming outside Parkside Apartments by 6 or 7 a.m.”
HCV is a rental subsidy program that pays a portion of rent on behalf of the participant based upon household income and size.  According to Hathaway, “there are a number of preference points for waiting list placement, including applicants who live in Henry or Stark counties, who are working, elderly, or disabled, among others.”
Hathaway is encouraging anyone who may benefit from this program to refer to their website at www.henrycountyhousing.us for eligibility and application details and to try to attend the registration event.
“We’ve marketed very heavily in the local two counties.  Social media is a new tool since we last opened the list and it’ll be interesting to see the turnout on the 18th. ”
