Box Tops are worth ten cents each and Mrs. Habing’s sixth grade students at Teutopolis Grade School are very good at collecting them. They are so good at it, in fact, they are on pace to set a new homeroom record. They have been spurred on by an incentive for every one thousand box tops, and by the new playground equipment the money will buy. They were recently surprised and grateful for the help one community business offered them.

Casey’s General Store in Teutopolis heard about the collection through a worker who is related to Mrs. Habing. Casey’s decided to help and began tearing off the Box Tops from items made in the store. To date, Casey’s has donated 394 Box Tops to the sixth grade class and has assured the students they will continue to collect and donate the Box Tops.

On January 23, Mrs. Habing’s class celebrated their 2,000th box top pizza party with Casey’s general manager, Mark Reeder. Mr. Reeder surprised the kids with not only pizza, but with chocolate chip cookies as well. The students enjoyed the pizza, and thanked Mark profusely for both the extra cookies and the box tops.

The students look forward to breaking the old record of 3,346 set by a former class. They want to set the new record beyond 4,000 and see the new playground equipment the money will buy. They want to thank all of the aunts, uncles, grandma’s, neighbors, friends, and their newest friend, Casey’s, for helping them reach their milestones and help the school purchase new playground equipment.
