Local Spelling Bee Winners Advance to State

Congratulations to Eddie Siemer of Teutopolis, the winner of the 2009 Bond-Fayette-Effingham Counties Spelling Bee.  The son of Marty and Lisa Siemer, Eddie finished first out of 24 spellers.

Congratulations also to 2nd place winner Josh Campbell, a 7th grader at Dieterich Elementary School. Josh is the son of Brett and Jackie Campbell of Dieterich.

The third place winner was Jennifer Walters of Sacred Heart School and fourth place went to Hayden Baker of Effingham Junior High School.

All four will advance to the state competition at Millikin University on March 21.  The winner there advances to the National Spelling Bee in Washington, DC.
