Teutopolis School Board Met December 15

1. Hired Trenton Kingery as student cafeteria worker and Larry Haslett as a part-time custodian.

2. Accepted resignation of Marcia Niebrugge as 8th grade girl's basketball coach and Jennifer Deters as 7th grade girls' basketball coach.

3. Approved medical leave requests for Jeannie Gaddis and Peg Pals.

4. Agreed to advertise in district for the grade school principal position.

5. Approved suggested policy changes from the IASB.

6. The board will allow several seniors to graduate early should they meet the requirements.

7. Approved low bid from Barlow Lock & Security for a new fire alarm system at TGS in the amount of $13,302.00.

8. Agreed to continue with same services with EIASE for FY10.

9. Approved the SILNET (Shawnee Library System Agreement).

10. Approved participation in the IASA Job Bank Renewal at a cost of $200.

11. Approved a Response Intervention Plan (RTI).

12. Approved an agreement with Milliken University for student teachers.

13. Accepted bid from Ron Thoele for a 1992 Van in the amount of $498.00.

14. Discussed interviews with two architectural firms and approved Upchurch Group as 1st choice, and FGM Architects as 2nd choice contingent upon approval of a contract.

15. Agreed to purchase a 2009 Ford Focus 4-door sedan in the amount of $12,608.00 through the state bid program.

16. Adopted the 2008 Tax Levy - total 3,003,000.

17. The early out option for the senior class was discussed.

18. Reviewed the district goals - the district has approved an architect for facilities, and Mr. Niemerg is working with the Teacher's Advisory Council on communication. He will have something to present at the January meeting.

19. The board discussed the IMRF employer rate for 2009 and talked about the Early Retirement Incentive program.

20. During the holidays, the unit office will be closed December 24, 25, 26 and January 1 and 2. The office will be open from 8-12 on December 29, 30, & 31.

21. Teutopolis Education Foundation grant requests are due to the Unit Office by January 9, 2009.

22. In case of inclement weather, closing will be announced on the school reach system and the local radio stations 95.7 WCRC, 97.9 WXEF, and 102.3 WKJT.

23. The board discussed the existing school song. Rebekah Volk, HS English teacher, will work with her classes to come up with new lyrics for the school song using the same melody. She hopes to have choices for the student to vote on, and a recommendation to the board for the January meeting.
