Vacation Bible School was held from June 6-13 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 3 miles north of Dieterich with St. John's Lutheran and Grace Lutheran of Dieterich as co-hosts. Pastor Stephen Gillet gave the welcome and songs "The Bee Song," "We Love to Come to God's House," "Jesus is Alive," and "Buzzin' in the Hive," were sung by the children. The theme for the week was "Planet Zoom." The daily offering went to the Mission Project in the Dominican Republic.
39 students registered with an average attendance of 34. The Directors were Jennifer Boerngen and Natalie Hall with 8 teachers, and 17 volunteer leaders and other volunteer staff. Snacks were served each evening by the Ladies Aid of Grace, St. John's and St. Paul Lutheran Churches.
Teachers for ages 3 and 4 were Lisa Kreke, Andrea Courson and Hannah Gillet with students, Hunter Bannick, Abby Courson, Kaden Einhorn, Ryan Galbraith, Kyle Goebel, Samantha Goebel, Elijah Hall, Jackson Holste, John Holste, Ella Kreke, Hailey McWhorter, and MacKenzie Thilker.
Ages 5 and 6 teacher was Cheryl McWhorter and students, Riley Baxter, Kaitlyn Boerngen, Maggie Britton, Pete Britton, Sophia Gillet, Jenna Goebel, Allyson Holste, Kolton Kidd, Karma Jo Moulton, and Jadyn Pruemer.
Megan Garbe taught ages 7 and 8, with students Faith Aherin, Logan Garbe, Lucas Hall, and Ethan Kidd. Lindsay Goebel taught ages 9 and 10 with students Gracie Britton, Kaylee Brown, Katie Courson, Lauren Garbe, Elizabeth Gillet, and Audra Lewis. Ages 11 and 12, taught by Diane Aherin and Gail Garbe with students, Reanon Adams-Law, Madeline Aherin, Madison Bannick, Tyler Brown, Bethany Gillet, Kierston Goodman and Kayla Holste.
Volunteer leaders were Pastor Gillet with Opening/Closing/Bible Story-teller, Janelle Eck-Bible Challenge/Bible Storyteller, Music-Marsha Courson, Crafts-Angie Goebel, Games-Amanda Probst. Other volunteer staff were Devin Aherin, Jodi Britton, Caleb Brumleve, Caren Brumleve, Mikaela Cox, Paul Gillet, Andrew Hall, Anthony Hall, Amber Kidd, Dylan Lewis, Lisa Pruemer and Riley Pruemer.
Everyone sang "Go, My Children, with My Blessing," after prayer and Benediction, by Pastor Gillet. Refreshments were served in the Fellowship Hall and the children's crafts were displayed for everyone to see.
