This one may be short but sweet
When I got home on Sunday I was beat
Fished 15 hours mostly in the blazing sun
Stayed up all during the nights to have some fun
For our classic we went to Kentucky to compete
Now that it is over our season is complete
The perception given off when someone sees another smoking a good cigar alongside a glass of scotch is that they are living the good life. When the boys gathered at Kentucky Lake for the 2010 Classic it was the good life. A few cigars were smoked and variations of scotch (beer, rum, etc.) were consumed. We didn't walk down a red carpet or have caviar because to us that isn't the good life. To the boys swaygosville (Heaven on Earth) is being in a place where there are so many miles of water full of fish one doesn't know where to begin, two or three evenings of spirit filled entertainment and a magnificent Putnam cooked breakfast before leaving. An old commercial once said, "It just doesn't get any better than that."
The tournament was broken down into two days and an accumulative total crowned a classic champ. Day one winners were Kyle Dasenbrock and Jeremy Dhom 3rd with 4 fish 13.82. Second place was Kirk Jansen and Lee Buehnerkemper 6 fish 17.08. First place was Ben and Derik Holmes with 6 fish 20.65 pounds. They also had big bass (5.19), biggest smallmouth (4.14) and critter pot (drum 8.86). They totally dominated. Day two winners were 3rd place Brad Shew and Rick Overbeck 4 fish 12.52. Second was Bruce Henderson and Derik Gaddis 6 fish 14.85 pounds. First place went to Ben and Derik Holmes with 5 fish 17.19. They also had big bass 5.09. Biggest smallmouth went to Kirk Jansen and Lee Buehnerkemper 3.77. Critter pot was won by Larry and Tim Funneman flathead catfish 3.37.
As you may have guessed Derik and Ben Holmes won the overall with 11 fish 37.84. Second went to Kirk Jansen and Lee Buehnerkemper with 9 fish 27.91. Third was Bruce Henderson and Derik Gaddis 11 fish 27.20. Fourth went to Jeremy Dhom and Kyle Dasenbrock with 7 fish 19.66. Fifth place went to Lance Dasenbrock and Phil Ruholl with 9 fish 19.07. If you are a good reader you know who had biggest large and smallmouth overall. Since we had such a good year and a good classic I thought everyone should get their name in the paper so I included a picture of everyone who fished. Th, th, th, that's all folks.
