Frank H. Schniederjon passed away at 12:50 p.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at his home in Effingham.
He was born on June 27, 1918 in Sigel to Frank L. and Barbara (Nosbisch) Schniederjon. He married Genevieve L. Sehi on August 10, 1940.
Frank was a graduate of the University of Illinois with a degree in commerce and law. He was admitted to practice law in Illinois on November 9, 1942. He served as Effingham city attorney from 1947 until 1960 and as Effingham County States Attorney for 2 terms from 1960 until 1968. He also served as attorney for the Dieterich and Effingham school districts. Mr. Schniederjon was also attorney for and organized the Sigel, Montrose, and Edgewood fire protection districts. He was a member of the Illinois Bar Association, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association, and the Effingham County Bar Association. Frank had also served as a director for the Washington Building and Loan Association and as director for the First National Bank in Effingham.
He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham, the Effingham Knights of Columbus Council #665, member, organizer and past commander of the Sigel American Legion Post #1134, member of Effingham American Legion Post #120, Effingham V.F.W. Post #1769, lifetime member of Effingham Elks Club #1016 and the Effingham County Sportsmans Club, and a charter member of the Effingham Moose Lodge. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Genevieve, of Effingham; 1 daughter, Nila (Rocky) Weber of Effingham; 5 grandchildren, Audra (Bob) Schultz of Effingham, Frank L. (wife Rita) Schniederjon of Effingham, Cindy (Jeff) Windau of Edwardsville, Jennie (Greg) Billhartz of St. Louis, Missouri, and Matt (wife Tracy) Weber of Glen Carbon; 12 great-grandchildren, Christopher Schultz, Emmie Schultz, Frank G. Schniederjon, Nicole Schniederjon, August Windau, Regan Windau, George Windau, Sydney Weber, Carson Weber, Grace Billhartz, Liam Billhartz and Evan Billhartz.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 son, Frank G. Schniederjon; and 1 half-brother, Russell Schniederjon.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Effingham with burial at St. Anthony Cemetery with military graveside rites. Visitation was from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham.
