David Walk Passed Away

David V. Walk, 50, of rural Neoga, Illinois, passed away at 8:04 A.M., Tuesday, June  29, 2010, due to a traffic accident south of Neoga. David was born on July 21, 1959, in Mattoon, Illinois, the son of Virgil and Theresa (Schumacher) Walk. He married Kimberly Bohnhoff on June 14, 1980 in Dieterich, Illinois.
David was a member of the St. Michael The Archangel Church and the Knights of Columbus, both of Sigel, Illinois, a member of the Cumberland County Board, Cumberland County Farm Bureau and the Cumberland County Pork Producers. David was a grain farmer and pork producer and partner of the Walk Stock Farm, Inc. of rural Neoga, Illinois. He also coached Sigel St. Michael Girls Jr. High Basketball from 1994 until 2000, with six teams advancing to State level.
He leaves his wife, Kimberly Walk of rural Neoga, IL; four daughters, Stacey Funderburk, DVM and husband Keith of Morrisonville, IL, Mandy Bierman, MD and husband Michael of Indianapolis, IN, Toni Lesak and husband Justin of Plainfield, CT, and Allie Weber and husband Brandon of Boiling Springs, SC; mother, Theresa Walk of rural Neoga, IL; two brothers, Kenneth O. Walk and wife Linda and Roger Walk and wife Karen, all of rural Neoga, IL; five sisters, Kathleen Liefer and husband Les of Waterloo, IL, Donna Morell of Effingham, IL, Lorri Kastl and husband Randy of Teutopolis, IL, Deborah Czerwonka and husband Doug of Crystal Lake, IL and Sandra Utsler and husband Alan of Bethany, IL; one grandson, Lake Lesak of Plainfield, CT. David was known as "Uncle Dave" to many nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Walk; and one brother, Anthony B. Walk. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Michael Catholic School, P. O. Box 68, Sigel, IL  62462.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July  2, at St. Michael The Archangel Church of Sigel, IL, with Father Robert DeGrand officiating. Visitation was held after 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, July  1, at the church. Burial was at the St. Michael Cemetery in Sigel, IL.
Swengel - O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, was in charge of arrangements.
