William G. Koeberlein, 92, of Dieterich passed away at 9:40 a.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
William was born on February 25, 1917 in Altamont to Harry and Nellie (McGill) Koeberlein. He married RoseMary Mersman on June 28, 1948 and she preceded him in death in 2006.
He had been a lifelong farmer. He had also worked for Curtis Candy in Elgin for a short time. He returned to this area and worked for Norge/Fedders in Effingham for many years. He also drove a school bus for Unit #30 Dieterich schools. He was a member of St. Isidore Parish/Immaculate Conception Church.
Survivors include his sons, Michael of Dieterich, and David (wife Virginia) of Dieterich; grandchildren, Jessica Koeberlein of Dieterich, Emily (husband Larry) Uthell of Teutopolis, and Katie (husband Luke) Brummer of Dieterich; great-grandchildren, Allie and Melanie Uthell; brother, Richard of Altamont; and sister, Pauline Roedl of Effingham.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and 1 sister, Dorothy Killoren.
Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Bishop Creek with burial at St. Aloysius Cemetery in Bishop Creek. Visitation was from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday at the Church with a parish rosary at 8:00 p.m. Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham was in charge of arrangements.
