Lipstick on a Pig
I just finished reading a very long letter to the editor by Kathleen Miller in the Saturday, October 11th issue of the Effingham Daily News. After reading the letter, I now know what Bill O'Reilly of Fox News means by "spin". At first the word "smokescreen" came to mind and then I thought of a term I had heard a long time ago, and that is putting "Lipstick On A Pig And Calling It A Poodle". The letter was very critical of some other letter writer who apparently did not share the views of Ms. Miller. Mainly she tried to defend Obama's votes and views on abortion and related issues, but she also went off on a couple other issues including "Hate Crimes" and Lies about Obama. Perhaps Ms. Miller should obtain the October 1, 2008 issue of the Teutopolis Press where Carl A. Anderson, Supreme Knight of the K.C. addresses abortion issues. In regard to "Hate Crimes", this is the most dangerous legislation to freedom ever proposed. It is clearly designed to destroy the 1st Amendment of the Constitution of the U.S. In regard to Lies about Obama, Ms. Miller should have a conversation with her candidate for President when he says his tax plan will not increase taxes on anyone earning under $250,000.00. This is a complete Lie by Obama, as his tax plans will increase taxes on every product and every service we buy. In fact he will raise taxes on every gallon of gasoline that Grandma and Grandpa buy to go for a Sunday drive. In addition, capital gains taxes will almost double, taxes on small businesses will increase to the point of where they will leave the country or close, resulting in more unemployment. Ms. Miller appears to be very partisan and I assume that she is good friends of our Illinois Governor who has already sent numerous trucking companies to Indiana and almost destroyed the Printing Industry by taxes. If Obama is elected, we may all be on welfare. I am surprised that Ms. Miller did not also try to distort the fact that Obama wants to eliminate all civilian ownership of firearms and has voted for every anti-gun bill proposed by his many friends in the U.S. Senate, including legislation to permit lawsuits that would eliminate Firearm Manufacturers and Gun Dealers. Where the rights of the unborn and 2nd Amendment rights are involved, Obama is the most dangerous candidate in history to run for President of the United States. There is one more thing that the public should know and that is with his past record and associations, Obama could not even be hired as an F.B.I. Agent and yet some want him to be President of the United States.
Apparently Ms. Miller wanted the truth. Now she has it.

It's Sunday morning and I've just had breakfast after returning from morning Mass. No, the Homily was not about the election or abortion, it mainly focused on the amount of people, who do not go to church on a regular basis. That has nothing to do with what I am thinking of and writing about.
I keep thinking of all the people who are going to vote for people in the Democrat party, even though they know that many of these candidates, not only are known to be "pro-choice", but are "pro-abortion". I do not consider myself a Democrat or a Republican. I have voted both sides, both in primaries and in general elections. To be very blunt about it, quite often, I hold my nose and vote for the lesser of two "evils". That is a little sad to say: but sometimes there is just not a candidate on the ballot that I can feel good about voting for.
Now to get on with the pro-life - anti-abortion thing. I cannot understand how any Christian; be they Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran, or any other of the Christian denominations; can this time vote for either the Democrat Presidential candidate or our candidate for Senator from Illinois. They both proclaim to be Christians and yet they are both pro-choice to the point that, in my opinion, they are pro-abortion. This seems to be true of the platform of the whole Democratic Party. I truly believe that is wrong and that they will have to answer for it in the "afterlife". I will go so far as to say that, anyone who votes for these people will have to answer for his or her choice in this election.
I have one other thing that I do not understand. When Bill Clinton ran for president, he went into some Chicago churches and spoke from the pulpit. I think John Kerry did the same. I know Jesse Jackson used to do it. Yet, a Catholic priest has to be afraid to utter a single word about how people should vote, and he has to have a fear of losing their "tax-exempt" status for that church. What's the saying, "different strokes for different folks."
