Teutopolis Tennis Teams Play in Midwest Championships

Ninety-one tennis teams represented Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Ohio converged in Indianapolis to play in the USTA Junior Team Tennis Midwest Championships August 6-8. Three teams representing Southern Illinois were from Teutopolis! The 18 and under Teutopolis Team, who won the Southern Illinois JTT Tournament for the fourth consecutive year, were Renee Breer, Michelle Esker, Michelle Probst, Joey Flach, Jordan Haskenherm, Willie Jansen, and David Mersman. The 18 and under team placed 7th overall and competed against teams from Bloomfield, Michigan, Columbus, Ohio, South Bend, Indiana, Homewood, Illinois, and Orland Park, Illinois.

The 14 and under team finished second in the Southern Illinois Qualifier, yet still qualified as a wildcard team. They placed 9th overall and competed against teams from Allegan, Michigan, Toledo, Ohio, LaFayette, Indiana, and Bloomington, Illinois. Players for the Teutopolis 14 and under team were Ashley Hemmen, Taylor Deters, Holley Wright, Elena Breer, Kyle Brumleve, Nick Pals, Mitch Meinhart, Tommy Flach, and Karson Pruemer.

T-Town Wranglers 4-H Fishing Tournament Held

The T-Town Wranglers 4-H club recently had a fishing tournament at their June meeting. The meeting was held at Dave and Kori Hartke's house with a cookout following. The tournament winners were Cauy Hewing with the smallest fish and Andy Hille with the biggest fish. All the kids were invited to fish several local ponds in a time frame and come back with the biggest or smallest fish.  Fun was had by all.  

The T-Town Wranglers 4-H club is a club consisting of about 54 members and 3 set of leaders. Leaders are Dan and Kay Goldstein, Ken and Shannon Nosbisch and Bill and Sarah Hewing.

Wooden Shoes Win Baseball State Championship

For the first time in Teutopolis High School baseball history, the Wooden Shoes won the Class 2A State Championship game. It happened on Saturday, June 5, against undefeated Harrisburg with a score of 5-1. Teutopolis pitcher Derek Thompson played an extraordinary game allowing Harrisburg only 6 hits, striking out 8, and walking none. Teutopolis had 11 hits which are as follows: Derek Thompson 2, Derek Repking 2, Garrett Overbeck 2, Bo Blievernicht 1, Kyle Zerrusen 1, Dillon Hardiek 1, Ryan Pruemer 1, and Mark Niebrugge 1.

Wooden Shoes Win Track Sectional and Break Records

The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes won the IHSA Boys Track and Field Sectional at Robinson High School on May 21 and broke a couple of records.

The team scores were: Teutopolis 90, Robinson 77, Olney 66, Newton 61, Effingham St. Anthony 56, Vandalia 47, Lawrenceville 46, Bridgeport Red Hill 34, Flora 33, Altamont 14, Mt. Carmel 12, Oblong 10, St. Elmo 10, and Palestine 2.

Records were broken by Alex Kastl in the Pole Vault at 13 feet, 9 inches, and by the 4 x 400 Relay team of Jared Summers, Blake Thoele, Shawn Weber, and Chris Ludwig with a time of 3:30.52.

Andrew Vahling, a sophomore for Teutopolis, also did exceptionally well in the Hurdles placing first for both the 300M Interm Hurdels (time of 40.97) and the 110M Hurdles (time of 15.35).

Teutopolis Wins 1st Place at Robinson Doubles Invitational Tennis

Team Scores: 1st place - Teutopolis 15 points, 2nd place - Olney (East Richland) 14 points, 3rd place - Robinson 10 points, 4th place - Paris 6 points, 5th place - Effingham 4 points, tied for 6th - Lawrenceville and Mattoon 2 points each, and 8th place - Newton 1 point.

The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes Tennis Team defeated Mattoon on April 29 with a score of 9-0. The results are as follows:

Ryan Deters (T) defeated Alex Heldebrandt (M) 6-0, 6-2.

On April 22 the Wooden Shoes Boys Baseball team defeated the Dieterich Moving Maroons with a score of 11-0. Winning pitcher for T-Town was Derek Thompson. Hits for T-Town include: Derek Repking 2, Bo Blieverneicht 2, Derek Thompson 2, Luke Bushur 1, Ryan Pruemer 1, Kyle Zerrusen 1, and Garrett Overbeck 1.

Hits for Dieterich include: Devin Wright 2, Nathan Garbe 1, Sam Thoele 1, Darin Probst 1, Seth Flach 1.

On April 21 the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes Boys baseball team was defeated by the Brownstown Bombers with a score of 8-6. Hits for Teutopolis were: Garrett Overbeck 2, Damon Hoene 1, Brett Deters 1, Luke Bushur 1, Bo Blievernicht 1, Kyle Zuerrusen 1, and Ryan Pruemer 1.

Teutopolis High School All Sports Banquet May 5

The Teutopolis High School All Sports Banquet will be held on Wednesday, May 5, at 7:00 p.m. at the Teutopolis K of C Hall. This banquet is sponsored by the Teutopolis Lettermans Club.

All High School athletes and managers of all sports are invited as the guests of the Lettermans Club to this banquet. Parents and fans are encouraged to attend this event. Tickets may be purchased at the door for $8.00 for 1 person or $15.00 for 2.

On April 2, the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes defeated the Ramsey Rams 14-0. There were 12 hits from T-Town: Jordan Roepke had 3 hits, Damon Hoene, Garrett Overbeck, Cole Borries, Josh Koester, Brock Swingler, Kyle Zerrusen, Jeff Bloemer, Derek Thompson, and Luke Bushur each had 1 hit.

On April 1, the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes defeated the Charleston Trojans with a score of 13-1. The winning pitcher was Derek Thompson. Hits for T-Town include: Derek Repking 2, Bo Blievernicht 1, Luke Bushur 1, Jordan Roepke 1, and Derek Thompson 1.

Wooden Shoes Boys Baseball team defeated the Cumberland Pirates on March 23 with a score of 13-0. Winning pitcher was Clint Lustig. Hits for T-Town include: Derek Repking 2, Bo Blievernicht 2, Derek Thompson 2, Luke Bushur 2, Ryan Pruemer 1, Andy Hardiek 1, Jeff Bloemer 1, Lance Niebrugge 1, Damon Hoene 1, Garrett Overbeck 1, and Brett Deters 1.

Teutopolis High School Baseball

Thursday, March 18 was the start of the THS spring baseball season. T-Town defeated the Salem Wildcats 8-0.

Coach Fleener was often at his bench in the first game of the Wooden Shoes' baseball season. The final box score was comprised of 18 players, 3 of these being pitchers.

Dillon Hardiek's pitching didn't allow a hit in two innings. He successfully struck out four and walked one. Derek Repking and Bo Blievernicht completed the shutout.

T-Town had nine nits; Blievernicht and Hardiek each provided two. Ryan Pruemer and Kyle Zerrusen made three hits apiece. Blievernicht and Repking both doubled.

Teutopolis Pomerettes Dance Team Win 3rd in State

The Teutopolis Pomerettes Dance team competed at the I.D.T.A. State Competition at the University of Illinois Assembly Hall on Saturday, March 13, in the A Jazz category and returned home with a 3rd place in state trophy. We are proud of you! Congratulations on an outstanding accomplishment. The Teutopolis Pomerettes were welcomed home to Teutopolis on Sunday, March 14, with a reception and fire truck ride.

Wooden Shoes Defeat Paris, Lose to Robinson in Sectional

The Class 2A St. Anthony Sectional took place at the Enlow Center last week. In the semi-final game, played on March 3, the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes defeated Paris with a score of 58-37. Teutopolis scorers were Jordan Michels 17, Jeremy Niebrugge 10, Derek Thompson 6, Brock Sandschafer 6, Luke Bushur 5, Nick Schumacher 5, Mark Niebrugge 4, Blievernicht 3, and Thoele 2.

On Friday, March 5, the Sectional final was played between Teutopolis and Robinson with Robinson defeating Teutopolis 71-65. The Teutopolis scorers were Nick Schumacher 14, Jeremy Niebrugge 12, Derek Thompson 11, Jordan Michels 9, Brock Sandschafer 7, Luke Bushur 5, Mark Niebrugge 5, and Blievernicht 2.

Wooden Shoes Defeat St. Anthony for Regional Championship

For the third time this season, the Wooden Shoes basketball team has defeated the St. Anthony Bulldogs, this time at the Shelbyville Class 2A Regionals. The game took place on Friday, February 26 at Shelbyville. The game was a close match, especially during the first quarter.

St. Anthony had the lead 9-8 after the first quarter, and at halftime, the Bulldogs still had the lead with a 21-20 score.

Lady Shoes Win Regional Championship

On Thursday, February 11, the Lady Shoes won the Class 2A Pana Girls Basketball Regional defeating Pana with a score of 45-30. Teutopolis scorers were Becky Niebrugge 14, Jessie Wendt 10, Allison Windell 8, Holly Koester 7, and Megan Kroeger 6.

In the regional semifinals, the Teutopolis team defeated Nokomis on February 10 with a score of 56-26. Teutopolis scorers were Allison Windell 19, Megan Kroeger 12, Gabrielle Deters 10, Becky Niebrugge 7, Sara Kroeger 3, Holly Koester 2, Shelby Kroeger 2, and Emma Zerrusen 1.

Teutopolis 7th Grade Wins State Championship

The Teutopolis 7th grade basketball team won the championship of the Class 7-3A Boys State Basketball Tournament on Thursday, February 11, against South Holland McKinley. Teutopolis led by one point at half-time and remained close throughout the rest of the game. The final score was 35-33. Teutopolis scorers were Hartke 14, Gebben 7, Niemerg 6, Thoele 4, and Jansen 4. South Holland McKinley scorers were Benford 10, Walker 10, Christian 9, and Reedy 4.

Lady Shoes bow from sectional championship

The Olney Lady Tigers advanced Thursday to the Champaign (Parkland College) Super-Sectional with a 42-33 victory over Teutopolis in the championship game of the Class 2A Flora Sectional.
 
Olney (24-9) will play top-ranked Bloomington Central Catholic at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Wooden Shoes Basketball in Top 10

In the latest Illinois High School Boys Basketball Top 10 Poll, Teutopolis has continued to stay ranked at number 5. The Wooden Shoes hold this spot in Class 2A, with their 18-3 season record.

In the Illinois High School Girls Basketball Top 10 Poll, the Wooden Shoes have moved up one spot. Last week, Coach Laurie ThompsonÕs team was ranked at No. 3. With their 20-2 season record, the Lady Shoes have crawled up to No. 2. Congratulations, Wooden Shoes!

Wooden Shoes: 2010 National Trail Conference Champions

The Wooden Shoes basketball team did well in the 75th Annual National Trail Conference placing first. On Tuesday night, Teutopolis squared off against St. Elmo. The game was close during the first half, and the Wooden Shoes pulled the score away from the Eagles. The winning score was 81-52, bringing their record to 16-3.

The Thursday night game was between the Altamont Indians and the Wooden Shoes. Teutopolis won the game 76-54 over Altamont. The Wooden Shoes record was raised to 17-3. T-Town was set to play the winner of the St. Anthony/Neoga game for the NTC championship.
