Prairie Central was forced to rally after dropping the first set in a nonconference volleyball match with Paxton-Buckley-Loda on Monday. The Hawks rebounded to take the next two sets for a 30-32, 25-16, 25-11 match victory.
Amber Graf collected 9 kills to pace the Hawks (12-4) at the net. Lindsey Hari had 7 kills and Merryn Krenz recorded 22 assists. Lexie Rieck had 11 service points, including 5 aces, and came up with 16 digs on defense.
CHILLICOTHE — Illinois Valley Central was pushed in each of the two sets but the Grey Ghosts prevailed 25-22, 25-23 in a nonconference match with Ottawa on Monday.
Hope Allen led OVC with 14 kills and Jansan Davis collected 10 assists. On defense, Kelly McGrath made 3 blocks and Hannah Horack came up with 14 digs.
SANDWICH — Flanagan-Cornell built momentum for its nonconference match at Pontiac with a championship effort in winning the Sandwich Tournament of Champions on Saturday.
The Falcons went three sets to bump off host Sandwich in the final, 21-17, 15-21, 15-6. This came after the Indians topped Flanagan-Cornell 10-21, 21-16, 16-14 in pool play.
Also in pool play, the Falcons claimed wins over Harvard (21-7, 21-10) and Reed-Custer (21-14, 21-17). In the semifinal round, Flanagan-Cornell outlasted Plano 21-9, 20-22, 15-9.
Rachel Harrison led the net attack for the Falcons with 28 kills in the tourney. Kayla Van Weelden collected 21 kills and 8 blocks at the net and Regan Reed chalked up 20 kills. Madelyn Forney registered 32 assists and Alexis Howell had 28 assists.
Molly Garretson came up with 36 digs and Reed added 31 digs on defense.
