Wooden Shoes Basketball in Top 10

In the latest Illinois High School Boys Basketball Top 10 Poll, Teutopolis has continued to stay ranked at number 5. The Wooden Shoes hold this spot in Class 2A, with their 18-3 season record.

In the Illinois High School Girls Basketball Top 10 Poll, the Wooden Shoes have moved up one spot. Last week, Coach Laurie ThompsonÕs team was ranked at No. 3. With their 20-2 season record, the Lady Shoes have crawled up to No. 2. Congratulations, Wooden Shoes! 



Wooden Shoes Defeat Stew Stras

The Wooden Shoes Basketball team defeated Stew-Stras with a score of 78-34. Teutopolis scorers were Jordan Michaels 14, Jeremy Niebrugge 12, Derek Thompson 10, Nick Schumacher 10, Trey Braun 10, Luke Bushur 6, Mark Niebrugge 5, Blake Thoele 4, Brock Sandschafer, Marshall Schultz, and Brett Deters with 2 points each, and Jon Mette 1.



Dieterich Boys Defeat Brownstown and Newton

The Dieterich Boys Basketball team defeated Brownstown on Tuesday, February 2 with a score of 62-47. Kuhl led the team to victory as he scored 14 points overall, Probst and Thoele followed behind with 12 points each. Hinterscher, Ohnesorge, and Bohnhoff all scored 8 points each. The Dieterich JV team also defeated Brownstown 56 to 40.

The Dieterich Boys team also defeated Newton with a score of 53-49. Scorers for Dieterich were Kuhl 14, Ohnesorge 14, Bohnhoff 14, Hinterscher 6, Thoele 3, and Probst 2.



Dieterich Girls Basketball

The Dieterich Girls Basketball team lost to Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City on February 6 with a score of 57-54. Dieterich scorers were Candace Niemerg 17, Chelsea Storm 16, Brittney Niemerg 12, Amber Durbin 5, Brandi Orsborn 2, and Miranda Goodman 2.



Lady Shoes Basketball

On February 4, the Lady Shoes defeated Bishop McNamara with a close score of 38-37. Teutopolis scorers were Jessie Wendt 12, Becky Niebrugge 8, Allison Wendell 5, Megan Kroeger, Holly Koester, and Gabrielle Deters each scored 4 points. The T-Town JV team also defeated Bishop McNamara JV with a score of 54-22.

On February 5, the Lady Shoes defeated Paris with a score of 64-38. The Teutopolis scorers were Allison Windell 14, Holly Koester 13, Jessie Wendt 11, Becky Niebrugge 9, Gabrielle Deters 8, Lynae Jansen 3, Megan Kroeger, Sara Kroeger, and Brianna Probst each scored 2 points. The T-Town JV team defeated Paris JV with a score of 47-36.



Lady Shoes Lose to Mater Dei a 2nd Time

On February 1, the Lady Shoes played Breese Mater Dei, losing 63-57. Weeks ago, Breese Mater Dei took away the Lady ShoesÕ undefeated record, and have handed them a second defeat this season. Partway through third quarter, Teutopolis had the lead by nine points, but the Knights struck back fiercely to win the game.

Top scorer for the second match against Breese Mater Dei was Wendt #20, scoring 18 points for the Lady Shoes. Behind her was Windell #4, whom scored 10 points. M. Kroeger #50 scored 8 points, followed by Deters #52, Koester #40, and B. Niebrugge #11; each scored 7 points for Teutopolis.

The game on January 21 between the Lady Shoes and the Knights was TeutopolisÕs first defeat this season. The Knights have once again beaten the Lady Shoes, being the only team to win against Teutopolis during this girlsÕ basketball season.
