Wooden Shoes: 2010 National Trail Conference Champions

The Wooden Shoes basketball team did well in the 75th Annual National Trail Conference placing first. On Tuesday night, Teutopolis squared off against St. Elmo. The game was close during the first half, and the Wooden Shoes pulled the score away from the Eagles. The winning score was 81-52, bringing their record to 16-3.
The Thursday night game was between the Altamont Indians and the Wooden Shoes. Teutopolis won the game 76-54 over Altamont. The Wooden Shoes record was raised to 17-3. T-Town was set to play the winner of the St. Anthony/Neoga game for the NTC championship.
St. Anthony won their game, and the two rivaling schools were facing off for the 75th Annual NTC Championship title. The Bulldogs carried the lead throughout the first three quarters of the game. The first quarter score was 9-8, second quarter 18-13, and third quarter 30-29. The Wooden Shoes were just a small bit behind each quarter. In the fourth quarter of the game, T-Town outscored St. Anthony 17-9, grabbing the victory. The final score was 46-39
By winning the 2010 NTC tournament, the Wooden Shoes achieved a 32nd tournament championship for Teutopolis. The NTC All-Tournament Team includes from Teutopolis Jordan Michels (#44) and Nick Schumacher (#34). Teutopolis also won the 2010 Community Spirit Award because of their dedicated fans and support of the Wooden Shoes Basketball Team.

Lady Shoes Basketball
The Teutopolis Lady Shoes Basketball team defeated Effingham with a score of 46-35 on January 29. Teutopolis scorers were Allison Windell 18, Becky Niebrugge 10, Jessie Wendt 8, Megan Kroeger 7, and Holly Koester 3. T-Town JV defeated Effingham JV with a score of 43-20.
The Lady Shoes defeated Neoga on January 26 with a score of 46-33. Wendt led the team with 15 points while M. Kroeger and B. Niebrugge both received 8 points each. Sa. Kroeger received 6 points, Deters received 5 and Windell received 4 points.
The Lady Shoes also defeated Mattoon on January 25 with a score of 61-31. Windell led the team with 22 points. Wendt received 14 points, M. Kroeger received 8 points, B. Niebrugge received 7, Koester received 3, Deters, Drees, and J. Niebrugge all received 2 points each, and Sa. Kroeger received 1 point.
Teutopolis Girls Fresh/Soph Basketball
The Teutopolis High School Girls Fresh/Soph basketball team lost to Central A and M on January 30 with a score of 31-39. The Teutopolis scorers are as follows: Emma Zerrusen 10, Alyssa Platz 10, Rachel Hartke 6, Olivia Gebben 4, and Tara Stephens 1.
The Fresh/Soph team defeated St. Anthony on January 28 with a score of 23-18. Emma Zerrusen led the team with 11 points, Rachel Hartke followed behind with 7 points, Alyssa Platz received 3 points and Olivia Gebben received 2 points. St. Anthony scorers were Woltman 9, Wenthe 4, Schmidt 3, and Bishop 2.
The Teutopolis High School Girls Freshman basketball team was defeated by Effingham on January 26 with a score of 30-24. Morgan Drees scored the most points for T-Town with 12 points. Emma Zerrusen received 6 points, Alyssa Platz followed behind with 5 points and Tara Stephens received 1 point.
The T-Town High School Girls Sophomore team defeated Effingham on January 26 with a score of 23-19. Sara Kroeger scored the most points for T-Town with 10 points, Rachel Hartke scored 6 points, Morgan Drees received 4 points, Kara Swingler received 2 and Alyssa Platz received 1 point.
