Area seniors are invited to a free Senior Health and Information Fair July 31 at the Effingham Elks Lodge. The event is sponsored by State Senators Kyle McCarter (R-Lebanon), Dale Righter (R-Mattoon) and Chapin Rose (R-Mahomet) and State Representative John Cavaletto (R-Salem).

Learn what you can do to live a healthier life from local and state agencies representatives who will be on hand with important information and answers to health questions; free informational brochures will be available explaining state programs for older citizens; and a number of free health screenings will be available to check for cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure and more.

Information will be available about senior nutrition programs, transportation and insurance programs, adult education, and veterans' benefits. Also, IDOT will have information on their Yellow Dot program, a traffic safety initiative, and how you can participate. The State Treasurer's office will also be available to help you access the state's I-CASH Database to search for unclaimed property.

The Health and Information Fair will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the Effingham Elks Lodge, 2102 South Banker Street in Effingham. The entire event is free and includes refreshments and door prizes.
