BARDOLPH — A Bardolph man faces a charge of aggravated battery after allegedly injuring a paramedic while he was being treated in an ambulance.
According to McDonough County Sheriff Nick Petitgout, a deputy was dispatched at 6:17 p.m. to assist Lifeguard ambulance staff with a combative patient.
Petitgout said EMS staff were assisting Grant J. Taylor, 38, after he was found unconscious in a ditch along the roadway. Taylor was placed in the ambulance, and appeared to be under the influence of narcotics, according to Petitgout. While receiving treatment, Taylor is alleged to have begun fighting with the paramedics and injuring one of them.
Taylor is charged with aggravated battery. According to Petitgout, it is a felony in Illinois to batter emergency medical personnel.
Taylor posted $2,000 cash bond and was released from McDonough County Jail.
