Judy Kay Traub, age 74, of Dieterich, Illinois, passed away at 1:20 PM - Saturday, May 23, 2020, in the comfort of her home with family by her side.


Private family services will be held, with burial in the Drummond Cemetery in rural Neoga, Illinois. In loving memory of Judy, memorials may be made to the Crossroads Quilters Guild or E.C.C.O.A. Senior Center and can be mailed to the Traub Family 301 Prairie Drive, Dieterich, Illinois 62424. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois. Judy was born on June 29, 1945, in Effingham, Illinois, the daughter of Lon A. and Rose Mae (Holley) Ballinger. She married Wendell D. Traub on September 27, 1973, in Effingham, Illinois, and he survives.


Judy had a generous nature and feisty fun-loving spirit; she loved get-togethers and a home full of laughter, family and friends. Judy was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Dieterich, Illinois. Judy enjoyed crocheting, sewing, quilting and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Crossroads Quilters Guild, the University of Illinois Home Extension Center - “The Afternooners”, Watson Church sewing group, Monday morning sewing group at the E.C.C.O.A. Senior Center, and did needlework with friends at Burton-Devore. She was a proud member of the Partners Investment Club of Effingham.


Judy is survived by her husband of 46 years Wendell Traub of Dieterich, Illinois; children, Lisa (Chuck) Fritscher of Dieterich, Illinois; Jeffrey Carlson of Champaign, Illinois; and Danny (Kim) Carlson of Maryville, Illinois; Grandchildren, Valerie (Bill) Sanguinetti, Vanessa (Charlene Rose) Fritscher, Kaitlin Carlson, Ben Carlson and “special boss-man” Great Grandchild, Lincoln Sanguinetti. Step-children, Cindy Traub (Kevin Spaight) of Merit, Texas; Brad Traub of Sierra Vista, Arizona; Kris (Monica) Traub of Altamont, Illinois; and Wendy Will (Clark Ashbaugh) of Effingham, Illinois; step-grandchildren, Sean Batura, Nick (Elisha) Batura, Ashley (Dylan) Koester, Dustin (Jody) Will, Tiffany Will, Shaena (Andrew) Wilder, and Austin (Hannah) Traub. Step-great Grandchildren, Wyatt, Kaylee & Macy Will and Sutton & McKenna Koester. Sister Ruby Tabor, brother Bill “Pete” Ballinger and sister-in-law Peggy Ballinger also survive.


Judy was preceded in death by her parents; Sister and Brother-in-law, Wanda & Clifford West, Brothers, Donald Ballinger and Robert Lee Ballinger, Sr., Sister-in-law, Carol Ballinger and Son-in-law Ralph Oliva.
